Welcome to the Lincolnshire Materials Exchange
|
| |
Materials exchange actively exploits the principle that one company's waste is another's raw material. By automatically matching these parties via the internet, unwanted materials can be efficiently passed on or sourced - either once or as an ongoing arrangement. It delivers real financial savings for businesses, organisations and individuals and keeps potentially useful materials in circulation. Register today! |

 | GREEN LIGHT FOR EASTEX AS NEW EU WASTE LEGISLATION SETS BINDING 2020 TARGETS FOR RE-USE!

  | GREEN LIGHT FOR EASTEX AS NEW EU WASTE LEGISLATION SETS BINDING 2020 TARGETS FOR RE-USE!
New waste legislation for the EU will include targets for re-use and recycling of waste to be attained by 2020. The legislation also requires Member States to stick to a five-stage waste hierarchy: prevention, re-use, recycling, other recovery operations and, as a last resort, safe and environmentally sound disposal. This is designed to prevent and reduce waste production – and should be treated "as a priority order" rather than what is often currently seen as a "guiding principle". What is more, there are specific targets for re-use and recycling of commercial waste (i.e. 70% of non-hazardous construction and demolition waste by 2020). All of this is great news for re-use schemes like the Materials Exchange as there are currently few regulatory drivers or targets explicitly for commercial re-use or recycling. Viva la Eastex!!!

  | THE LAST RESORT - RELIANCE ON LANDFILL IS REDUCING
It’s official - schemes like Eastex really are working! - The Environment Agency has released Waste Data Update from 2006 which shows nearly 20 percent less waste has been sent to landfill since 2000. The Waste Data Update is an annual report produced using data routinely collect by the Environment Agency from waste management sites it regulates. Keep up the good work.
